You’re New to This Polk Home? Start Here: Who We Are & Why We Started This Blog

You could have found us any number of ways. Perhaps it was through Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, or some other social media avenue. That’s completely possible. Maybe you saw some of our businesses and just happened to stumble upon this blog. Maybe you’re a personal friend. If so, Hi! Regardless we’re so happy you’re here and that you’re taking a few minutes to join our online community. In a noisy world it means a lot that you’d read even just one of our posts.

I think it’s best to start by answering a couple of questions for you, namely, “who are we?” and “why this blog?”

Who is This Polk Home

This Polk Home is the online home base of David and Jaimee Morse– that’s us right there >>

We’re just a husband and wife who love sharing our life with other people and are so fascinated by a plethora of subjects and ventures. We met and started dating in high school and after about 3 years of dating got married while still in college. Now 10 years after meeting we have twin boys and life is such a joy.

Over the past decade together we’ve experienced a lot of different things and finally thought, why not share some of what we’ve learned with other people? You see, it’s not that we’re experts on anything, but we’re explorers of a lot of things. And that exploration has led us down a few paths to find out what we’re good at, what we’re not so good at, and everything in between.

We know there are a lot of people out there just like us who love exploring and love learning. We hope we can share some helpful things for you along the way.

About David

I’ve been an insurance professional for nearly five years working in a Fortune 300 company to deliver excellent customer experience and superior products to my clients. My formal training is in theology and along the way I’ve had the privilege of working part time in a church while keeping my “day job.” I love sports, and finance, and side hustles as well as venturing into new businesses. Helping others is what I’m truly passionate about and so you can find me taking in as much information as possible about any given subject so that I can share it with others. I guess that’s why I’ve always been into blogging. Along the way I’ve learned a thing or two about paying down debt (a lot of debt), saving money (investing and budgeting), starting and failing or forgetting a bunch of different business ideas, starting and pausing other business ideas, and most recently beginning the new journey of… well, I’ll hold off on that for now (we’ll write more on that at some point I’m sure).

About Jaimee

I’m an outgoing introvert who loves to learn and try new things. I’m an artist and entrepreneur at heart and have started two sustainable businesses since moving to Minneapolis. I’ve been a wedding photographer for the past five years and most recently have been working on The Heirloom Bouquet, a modern take on wedding bouquet preservation. I love being a mama to twin boys and I’m a crazy plant lady who is always obsessing over bringing new green life into our home. I enjoy having people into our home and love designing a unique and Scandinavian inspired house. I’m excited to share things that we’ve learned about traveling with twins, what not to buy when you’re expecting twins, my favorite home decor, tips about starting businesses, side income, and more.

Why?

Essentially, we believe that we’ve learned some things over the past ten years together that might be helpful to you. Whether you’re looking to start your first business, your first blog, your first side hustle; or you need help budgeting, paying down student loan debt, saving and investing for the future; or even are expecting twins and need some pointers from parents who have tried and failed at a lot of things over two years, we want to provide a place where you can learn from us and maybe just maybe try something new and be profitable while doing it.

So, with that, we hope you enjoy our blog and we’re happy to have you in our community. We would love to stay connected via email. Subscribe below and keep up with the latest goings on in our family.
